ASTRA VXR

The turbocharged Astra VXR range ticked all the high performance boxes – bold looks, massive pace, low weight, real driving thrills.

Astra VXR

Astra VXR? Let’s talk power. A 2-litre 16V ECOTEC 4 cylinder turbo engine packed 240PS and 320Nm of torque. 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds with a blistering top speed of 152mph. All let loose by an uprated turbocharger and fuel injection system which ensured rapid acceleration. It also delivered a fantastic road-gripping ride, courtesy of its lowered and ventilated VXR sports suspension, front ventilated disc brakes and rear disc brakes. With its muscular good looks, the Astra VXR was an irresistible beast.

Astra VXR Arctic

It started with an Astra VXR. You know the one - 2.0i 16v turbo with 240PS and 320Nm. 152mph top speed and 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. Hot VXR suspension, 18-inch alloys and drop-dead good looks.

Then it was dialled up. With unique Olympic White paint and black roof. Dark-tinted rear glass. Black 19-inch multi-spoke alloys. V-grille, tailgate trim and door mirrors. Inside, figure-hugging, leather-trimmed Recaro sports front seats and distinctive VXR detailing. For a car called Arctic, it had plenty of sizzle.

Astra VXR Nürburgring

Naming a car after the classic racing circuit was a bold move. But the Astra VXR Nürburgring stepped up to the mark. It hammered from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and achieved a top speed of 155mph. A Remus sports exhaust system increased performance by up to 15PS and added a throaty roar. This limited edition featured unique paint and distinctive chequered flag body graphics plus lightweight alloy wheels. Inside were Recaro sports seats with full leather trim, carbon fibre detailing and a special plaque with a unique serial number.
